What is Open House?
Open House is a Lesbian social / discussion group that has been running in Melbourne for over 20 years. It is a discussion group run by a facilitator in an informal and non-threatening environment. There are usually many wide and varied opinions which make it interesting and fun.
The discussion consists of firstly a name around, followed by lesbian based question ( the question may also sometimes be of a general nature). Participants can contribute to the discussion or just sit back and listen.
It can be particularly useful to lesbians who are just coming out or who have recently moved to Melbourne, or for those who just want to meet new people in our community. The group also attracts regulars who enjoy the discussions and get togethers over many years.
Ages of those who have attended have ranged from 18 to 70 plus, and the professions, interests and attitudes of the participants are just as diverse. This is part of its charm and probably part of the reason for its success after all these years.
When:
1st and 3rd Thursday of every Month.
Where is the Group held?
Edinburgh Castle Hotel, 681 Sydney Road, Brunswick (Corner of Albion St & Sydney Rd)
Dinner and Discussion is held in the Edinburgh Castle’s function room.
The function room is located outside, before the beer garden.
Enter the pub from Sydney Rd, you will then need to walk straight through the pub, turn right at the ATM’s (heading outside) and the Room is located on your right just before the beer garden.
Time:
Feel free to join us for dinner at 7pm or just come along for the discussion at 8.30pm.
The meals are reasonably priced with vegetarian options available.
How do I get there?
Parking:
There is ample parking around the area. There is a small car park behind the pub. Parking is available on Sydney Road (after 6pm-no time restrictions). There is also a small car park located on the corner of Albion st (East side) & De Carle Lane, as well as another car park located on the corner of Breese Street & Florence St (west side).
Public Transport:
Anstey Station (Upfield Line) is a couple of minutes walk behind the Edinburgh Castle Hotel.
Whilst the number 19-(North Coburg tram Departing from Elizabeth Street in the CBD) will stop right outside the pub.
